American Museum of Radio and Electricity

Located in downtown Bellingham, the American Museum of Radio and Electricity features more than 1,200 vintage radios, televisions, recording devices and players from the early 20th century. In addition to these outstanding pieces, you can hear radio programs like The Shadow and The Green Hornet as you explore the museum’s nationally recognized collections.

The Bellingham Railway Museum is located at 1320 Cornwall Avenue in downtown Bellingham . This museum features a centennial exhibit, a collection of railway lanterns, a train simulator and more. Also on display is the work of Anacortes artist Tex Wilson who specializes in hand colored prints featuring trains.

Through the work of the Lynden Heritage Foundation, Whatcom County resident and visitors have access to the Lynden Pioneer Museum, one of the finest small town museums in the state of Washington. Located on Front Street, the museum is open daily and features many fascinating exhibits including rural Victorian lifestyles, agriculture, natural resources, Front Street , transportation, veterans, the military, and an extension collection of antique buggies.

Featuring both fine and interactive art, Mindport is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday. Mindport, “a museum of phenomena,” is located on Holly Street in downtown Bellingham . Interactive exhibits are created by Mindport founders and staff and are designed to elicit a positive response from visitors. In addition, the Fine Arts department features local artists like Tom Callenberg and Julia Clifford.

A well-known icon in downtown Bellingham, the Whatcom Museum of History and Art features both permanent and revolving exhibits. The museum’s main location is at the old city hall on 121 Prospect, with three additional locations nearby: Children’s Museum (227 Prospect), the ARCO Exhibits Building (206 Prospect) and the Syre Education Center (201 Prospect.) The museum features contemporary art and historical artifacts.

Part of the Whatcom Museum of History and Art, the Whatcom Children’s Museum resides separately at 227 Prospect. The museum, geared toward children from preschool age through second grade and their parents, features a variety of exhibits designed to engage children in play as they learn.
