Glacier Washington

GO EAST...on 542!

The mountain hamlet of Glacier is the closest town to Mt. Baker, and the rest of the North Cascade Mountain Range to the east. The North Fork Nooksack River flows close to Glacier, along with Clacier Creek and Cornell Creek.

Several hundred happy folks live in and around Glacier, from retirees to skiiers and snowboarders. I suppose many of the retirees would be skiiers and snowboarders as well...In short, Glacier is a place for active folks wanting to enjoy the best of the Northwest outdoors scene.

Aside from a scattering of homes in the immediate area, Glacier boast the Snowline and Mt. Baker Rim subdivisions to the east as well as the Glacier Springs Subdivision to the west. These subdivisions have smaller lots than those in the area around Glacier zoned Forestry or Residential, but they're serviced to some degree with water and power and roads close by. They need septics too. The larger parcels available are relatively cheap compared to some areas in Whatcom County, mostly very private too. Milanos Restaurant boasts great chow, and Grahams Store is a nice resource as well. There are ski and snowboard shops as well. And the Mt. Baker ski area is only 25 minutes further east on 542.

Glacier gets more rain than much of the western part of Whatcom County, as expected in the Foothills. The temperature gets a bit cooler as well, since the elevation is around a thousand feet above sea level.
