Most people who have sold a home before have heard that the spring season is the best time to list a home, but I would beg to differ. I believe that the holidays are a great time to sell a home, I mean it is the most wonderful time of the year isn’t it? Waiting until spring to put your home on the market could mean more competition and less exposure. Inventory is way lower in the winter months while the supply of buyers is steady, giving your home a much better chance of being viewed. Another reason listing during the holidays can be to your advantage is how beautiful your home looks all decorated and cleaned up for guests, and the smell of all those holiday sweets? Buyers love it. Plus, think of how great your neighborhood will look all covered in snow and lights! Folks tend to spend more time indoors and have more time off work during the holidays, which means more time to look at homes online and attend open houses. Interest rates also tend to be lower during the winter, which is good for your buyers as well as you if you are planning on buying another home. Speaking of buying another home, you will have the advantage of less competition in your home search as well. If your new year’s resolution is to sell your home consider listing during this holiday season. If you sell your home before the snow melts you will never have to mow your lawn again!
